Just a small donation will go a long way to help me meet my goal for St. Lukes Free Medical Clinic. Give in honor or memory of a doctor that is important to you.
For this Doctors' day fundraiser, I want to honor Dr. David Ike! He is has been volunteering at the clinic since its inception in 1992. He is currently a referral cardiologist for our patients and serves on St. Luke's board of directors. While I have never seen Dr. Ike personally as my physician, I know many people in the community that speak very highly of his work. I know him and his wonderful wife Harriet through my church and their volunteer work at the clinic. I am so glad Dr. Ike is a part of this community. Thank you!
This is a piece of Dr. Ike's spotlight that we did in 2019 that ready spoke to me. You can read the whole spotlight here.
"I once again have the sense of being on a team of very loving and caring teammates. In Hebrews, we are encouraged " to love each other as brothers." We are also asked to " not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it." As I grow older and deeper in my faith, I realize that many angels have crossed my path and made my life so much fuller and rewarding. St. Lukes Clinic is full of angels some of whom are patients and many are volunteers. In Ephesians, Paul urges us " to live a life worthy of the calling." He also encourages us " to be humble and gentle: be patient, bearing with one another in love." St. Luke's is a special opportunity for me to " entertain strangers and love one another as brothers." It also allows me to get closer to being able to " live a life worthy of 'my' calling." -Dr. David Ike *New International Version of the Life Application Bible
